The storage of fabric rolls requires warehouse shelves. When manual retrieval is involved, pallet racks or attic-style racks are usually preferred. However, in fact, the three-column pallet rack is the preferred type for storing fabrics. Why is the three-column rack the preferred choice for fabric storage? The custom warehouse shelf manufacturer explains.

The reason why fabric storage often uses three-column pallet racks is fundamentally due to the physical characteristics of fabric rolls. Single rolls are heavy, have a wide width, and have an unstable center of gravity. The length of fabric rolls is generally long, and sufficient shelf depth and width are required for them to be placed horizontally or upright. If the double-column pallet rack is widened and deepened, the crossbeam span will increase, and under concentrated loads, it is prone to bending and sinking.

Therefore, the pallet rack is designed as a three-column structure. The middle column shares the maximum bending moment at the mid-span, and the load is dispersed to the three columns and more densely supported points, thereby increasing the single-layer carrying capacity by nearly twice under the same material specifications.

Not only is the depth large, but the load capacity is also increased significantly, meeting the storage requirements of such long rolls of goods as fabric rolls. The custom warehouse shelf manufacturer can design the scheme for you for free and provide a quotation.
