Many industries use Mezzanine Racking to maximize the utilization rate of storage space. The design of its total height needs to comprehensively consider building conditions, safety regulations and operational efficiency. How high can the total height of the four-story mezzanine shelvesin the textile industry be designed? Let's find out below.

mezzanine shelves

The total height of the four-story mezzanine shelves in the textile industry shall not exceed the effective clear height of the factory building (usually a safety distance of more than 0.5 meters is reserved). For example, if the clear height of the factory building is 10 meters, it is recommended that the total height of the shelves be no more than 9.5 meters. Textile raw materials (such as fabric rolls and yarns) have a relatively high density. It is necessary to assess the floor load to avoid the risk of overloading. If manual picking is required on the attic, the width of each floor passage should be no less than 0.8 meters. If mechanical operations such as forklifts are used, the width should be no less than 1.5 meters.

It can be seen that the total height of four-layer mezzanine shelves in the textile industry is generally designed to be 7.5 to 9 meters, with each of the four layers being 1.8 to 2.5 meters high, and the bottom layer being 3 meters for equipment passage. In humid areas, anti-rust coated shelves (such as galvanized steel) should be used to prevent the accumulation of fiber dust and potential safety hazards. Of course, if the available height of the warehouse is over 10 meters and you want to make the most of the space, you can consider using automated high-rise warehouse shelves to store goods.
